Gzira is easily shaping up to becoming one of Malta’s busiest office space hubs, with yet another high rise building getting approval from the The Malta Environment and Planning Authority (Mepa).
The 12 storey towers’ plans are made up of a triangular block offering residential apartments and commercial space mainly for office use that sits on a three way junction just 2 minutes form the Gzira seafront and adjacent to Triq Tas-Sliema (Sliema Road).
Announced plans include three levels of underground parking accommodating 125 car spaces, as well as a cafeteria on the ground floor which would cater for the development’s incumbents whilst also offering it’s services to passers-by, as well as residents and workers in neighbouring blocks. As outlined in design policy, a public open space measuring almost 700m2 also makes part of the development.
The development application includes the proposal of a green wall, and the building’s design intends to maximise transparency through extensive use glass throughout the building. The design is meant to minimise the unwelcome aesthetic impact normally associated with such large developments in urban areas. This development is in line with the long-term vision of MEPA which plans to regenerate the areas surrounding Gzira and Ta’Xbiex.
